[It didn't matter where the rest of the crew had gotten to, Sanji was sure they were okay. They were with Luffy, right? And Luffy would look after them. He and the stupid marimo had their own problems now.
Stupid marimo indeed, getting lost and necessitating someone to hunt him down. They had been ambushed just as Sanji found him, and while it didn't seem like too tough a fight, the huge friggin' dinosaur-dragon-thing that decided to crash the party only made it worse. Both they and their foes scattered, and after a few too many hits, they realized the only way to get out with their lives was to run and hole up until it got tired of hunting and wandered off.
That's how they came to be in this cave, at least. Behind a waterfall, no less.
Sanji hid his limp as he prowled to the back of the damn space echoing with the roar of the falls. It was drier and quieter further back, though it cut off a significant portion of daylight. He had his lighter, at least, and dug it out to give them a quick burst of light. Hmm, nothing dangerous in here. Good.]
C'mon, let's make ourselves comfortable. We might be here a while.
[ow, his side. He hisses and lets the light flicker out for the moment, hiding his painful wince.]

Especially as the I'm perfectly okay with a limp and who knew what else stubborn ass eyebrow cook continued to be stubborn and pretend like nothing was wrong. No one said he had to fling his scrawny body into the thick of it no matter how strong he was, and Zoro would never underestimate his strength, but until the rhinosaurus, Zoro had had a handle on it damnit.
Now they were out numbered about two hundred to one and trapped here while a storm was raging outside and eventually they'd have to fight-- whether they went out to face them or those rat bastards came in here with their sabers and big rhino things.
He'd rather meet them head on but he could let Sanji catch his wind]
Suit yourself.
[rest in other words. He was going to
stand guardwatch the water fall and try to suss out the sound of approaching feet over the roar of water and the roll of thunder.Don't pay any attention to that plip plip of something wet hitting the cave floor. It's only a small amount of blood and even if it wasn't, as long as he had one drop in his veins he could keep fighting]
no subject
Sanji doesn't take his own advice, though, and flicks the lighter again to give them a little more to see by, mostly so he can hunt around. No bones on the floor, that's good, that means it's not something's den. There's a few pieces of driftwood, probably cast up when the water outside flooded, which is a stroke of luck. He sets to collecting them with one hand, hissing now and then as his movement tweaks a cut or bruise hiding somewhere beneath his clothes. Soon enough there's a big enough pile, and several flicks of the lighter later, he manages to get a very small fire going. For light, and to dry their clothes.
Now he can see Zoro's state much better, and he isn't too happy about it. Look at him, all cut to shreds. Sighing, he trudges over and comes to a stop beside him.]
Staring at the rain won't make it stop. Shit, you're a mess. Come on, you big green idiot, sit down and rest.
no subject
[Sanji was just as much a mess as he was if not more, and probably more. He should probably stand guard but... it was kind of cold (not due to blood loss since he'd already told his body to shut up about it so it damn well better). Anyway he can hear by the fire, too and there's no way in hell he's going to let those bastards think he's afraid of 'em. No not even a little concerned.
He grunts in acknowledgement, giving Sanji an agreement without giving too much ground to the love cook and sheaths Kitetsu and Shuusui. He takes his place by the fire and tries not to notice the warm gush down his side. Doesn't matter.]
Any way to make food?
[he could use a jolt of energy or two. He doubts there is, but just in case there may be, he'll ask.]
no subject
No, there's nothing in here, least of all anything edible. Unless you like dust pie with a side of mud soup, in which case, I'll get right on that.
[He crouches down beside Zoro, inspecting him, prodding him a bit, and then moves to peel off his suit coat.]
You're bleeding pretty bad, there. Put your hand over it, dumbass.
no subject
[and as for the wound]
It'll stop on its own.
[He leans against the cave wall and folds his arms. Perfectly fine to sit here and let it calm down.] Look after yourself a little more, jelly legs.
no subject
Like hell it will! You idiot, you don't know the first thing, do you?
[he pulls down the blood-soaked haramaki enough to press his hand hard against the wound in Zoro's side, not even caring if it hurts him now because the dumbass needs to learn. Dammit.]

no subject
[He grabs Sanji's wrist to force his hand away. That had hurt, jackass! Not that he'd say as much but it should be pretty damn obvious]
no subject
Well, I don't have any bandages, shithead! You want me to do it right, then give me your damn shirt! It's already torn to ribbons anyway.
no subject
[what the hell was he? A mind reader? He really didn't care but he'd rather take off his shirt a thousand times then for Sanji to get all fussy on him. He scowls at the cook and struggles out of his shirt, though things are pulling and another wound on his shoulder opens up.
And as he pulls the shirt over his head one of the tattered pieces gets caught on the loop of his top most earring somehow and so he's stuck. But only briefly. Shut up. Next time use your own damn shirt. Damn love cook.
Finally though he does get it off and scowls at Sanji daring him to say a thing. Just one word.]
no subject
Just what the hell did you do to get so cut up, anyway? I thought you had that group of 'em just fine, or so you said.
no subject
[and now that he recalls, he remembers Luffy bellowing something right before that. If that rubber bastard had anything to do with it he was going to knot him around the mast. He grunts a little at the pressure to his side and tries to think of other things than the pain he's too
manlybadassgood a swordsman to feel.He instead focuses on the waterfall and then a little more closer the warm tones of the firelight against Sanji's neck. Not that he's staring or anything. It just happens to be in his line of sight. And it's the spot below his ear where his hair has feathered against his neck. Nothing strange about that. Just skin and hair. That was it.]
no subject
Hmph. Yeah, well, just goes to show you're not invincible yet. Here, hold your hand right here for a bit while I clean you up.
[Chopper would give them both hell if they came back with dirt in their wounds and gave themselves fresh scars. His eyes travel the length of the one across Zoro's chest, making him pause for just a moment before grabbing Zoro's hand and placing it where his own was, so he could bandage up that shoulder.]
no subject
[said with a smirk and thankfully before Sanji touched his hand making him twitch. He slid his eyes away from Sanji's, feeling the cook watching him and wanting to shift away from that look while at the same time wanting to move forward-- and that was the dangerous part. Once he started forward he wasn't going back.]
no subject
Wadding up one of the tattered bits of shirt, Sanji pushes himself up to go and hold it under the water streaming past the opening of the cave, but wobbles halfway up, hissing at a sharp pain in his side. Yep, probably broke a few ribs again. Shrugging it off, he moves to complete his task and comes back with a wet bandage to wash the blood and dirt away.]
...how's your side looking?
[yes, deflect, worry about Zoro, not himself]
no subject
I don't want to end up carrying you back.
[He's just needling Sanji really. Though his ass would look good over Zoro's shoulder and where the hell had that thought come from? No. No thoughts like that. Focus on the pain and go through it. That was the safest. And not the odd slow desire to wonder what one of those angled hips would feel like under his hand]
no subject
[See, two can play at this game. Sanji is surprisingly gentle as he cleans away the blood, brushing down Zoro's arm and across his chest, trailing down the scar. His eyes are on his work, and on the golden glow of the firelight defining each muscle in the swordsman's chest and stomach. Hmm, not bad. No, bad! Bad distraction!
He tries to finish up quickly and get the worst cuts bandaged up with what's left of Zoro's shirt, so he can be comfortable and clean while they wait this out. Only when he finally sits up to declare this finished does he realize that his muscles have cramped and he can't really move like he wants to. Oops?]
no subject
[after all, it was Sanji that had started this. He was about to prod him in the ribs lightly to show Sanji just how fine he wasn't but then there was a bout of intense focus as he tried not to pay any attention to what Sanji's hands were doing across his chest which didn't need to be clean. He wasn't fussy about it alright? But saying as much would admit it bothered him and that water wasn't cold enough and...
...and Sanji's an idiot. He sees the tension there. With a sigh he pushes against Sanji's shoulder to knock him on his ass, jarring him as little as possible and takes one of those long dangerous legs into his hands to massage the muscles which have knotted up.
It's dark and in a cave and as long as he doesn't look directly at him, or even near him, or at least just at his leg, it doesn't count as anything. Though he does mutter:]
Idiot.
no subject
...well, that's new.
The jangling sensations in both legs and the aches in his chest have Sanji gasping for breath, though he tries really hard to slow his breathing and not flail about. The hands on his leg are helping, though, and after a bit he can feel himself blushing again.]
Don't.
[it's a weak protest, though. He doesn't want the massage to stop, because it's working, but why Zoro? Why...like this?]
no subject
What do you plan to do without your legs, stupid?
[he may be enjoying this himself, but it's only to help nakama out, nothing more.
... maybe a little more but he tries not to let it show. He moves further up his calf, but carefully, not wanting to nudge anything that's broken]
no subject
Idiot, I'm not going to lose my legs! I don't need...
[He may not need it, but he finds himself surprised at Zoro's skill. He hasn't broken any bones, thankfully, but his muscles are stiff and he was kneeling awkwardly while tending to Zoro. Biting his lip, Sanji sits back on his hands and closes his eyes to let it happen, while the stupid marimo works the knots out and gets the blood flowing properly again. Mm...]
no subject
he pulls in a deep low breath and focuses on Sanji's leg again, working all the knots out in a near meditative state, before taking the other one, smoothing a thumb along his shin under the pretense of looking for fractures, as if he'd really know what to look for. But the leg was whole because of course it was and he began to massage that one, too, feeling the muscles respond to his hand as he wanted other parts of Sanji to respond. But...he wouldn't think about that.
...yet.]
no subject
His other leg drapes over Zoro's thigh, resting comfortably, and his toes twitch a bit inside his shoes. The circulation is finally getting back to normal in both feet, no more icy needles all the way down his legs and he can move just fine. But he doesn't, he remains quiet to let Zoro do his work, his lips clamped shut in a desperate attempt to force himself not to blush.]

no subject
Don't do that! Ah, not there...
[Shut up, he's ticklish there. Can't help it.]
It's...better, it's good, you can stop.
